Web Designer/Content Manager


General Summary of Responsibilities:

THIS IS A PROJECT FUNDED POSITION. The Web Designer/Content Manager helps execute top-class marketing for Cascade Designs. This is achieved by executing front-end web design and content management for Cascade Designs’ global specialty outdoor sporting goods business.


Job Duties:
  • Partner with the Division Marketing Directors and Graphic Designers to design and implement user interface that maximizes the browsing experience.
  • Work with the Marketing team to create and utilize relevant content in web marketing efforts.
  • Maintain and update content using minimalist CMSs.
  • Update and create new page templates using hand-coded HTML, CSS, and Photoshop.
  • Implement web marketing programs to drive traffic to the site. Includes SEO, SEM, online advertising, and email campaigns.
  • Analyze performance of website and marketing programs and distribute reports to Division Marketing Directors.
  • Keep current on state of the craft web development technologies.
  • Assist as needed with planning efforts related to Division and Corporate marketing goals.
  • Achieve established deadlines, track and report on all tasks and deliverables in At Task Project Management Tool.

Education, Skills and Abilities:
  • 2+ years relevant work experience.
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS, with basic knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3.
  • Basic skills in finding/replacing/updating HTML within C# and XSLT.
  • Able to use Photoshop as web design/templating tool.
  • Working knowledge of Google Analytics.
  • Experienced with common web protocols & relevant technology.
  • Experienced with Visual Studio and SourceSafe, or similar IDE/version control systems.
  • Work at least 1 consumer event each year.

SEASONAL Machinist I


General Summary of Responsibilities:

Machine and fabricate prototype and production tooling, machine parts, and product models from engineering drawings, informal sketches, and verbal instructions. Fabricate work aids, production and inspection fixtures, components of stamping and forming dies and new product prototypes using conventional machine shop equipment and practices. Provide assistance in other areas as required.


Job Duties:
  • Fabricate prototype parts, tooling, fixtures, components of stamping dies, jigs, gauges, and machine parts to drawings and specifications using conventional machine tools.
  • Support Product Development by machining prototype parts and tooling, working in project teams with designers and engineers to help bring product concepts to realization.
  • Maintain, repair, sharpen, modify, and rebuild tooling, dies, jigs, and fixtures used by Production, Quality Control, and Product Development departments in order to meet quality and production goals.
  • Maintain, adjust, and perform basic repairs to tool room equipment.
  • Assist maintenance department in the repair of production machinery by providing machining and fabrication when needed.

Education, Skills and Abilities:
  • 2 year vocational or technical degree, completion of apprenticeship, or equivalent experience.
  • 3 years experience beyond related training in a manufacturing support, research and development, prototyping, or job shop environment.
  • Ability to operate conventional lathes and mills, grinding equipment and other shop tools in a safe and professional manner.
  • Welding, fabricating, and mechanical assembly skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively and cooperatively with diverse groups of people.
  • Must provide own tools of the trade.

Process Development Technician


General Summary of Responsibilities:

Supports Process Development Engineers, Product Developers, and Manufacturing Engineers in studying and improving existing manufacturing processes and developing new ones. Executes and documents process and material tests. Designs, fabricates, and assembles specialized test equipment, fixtures, and instrumentation. Uses OEE system and other tools to assess process effectiveness and measure improvement.


Job Duties:
  • Works with Product Development, Manufacturing, and Process Engineering to improve existing manufacturing process and develop new ones.
  • Performs and documents engineering tests and experiments. Records data, summarizes conclusions, and shares findings with other members of technical teams.
  • Designs and fabricates test fixtures, tooling, and instrumentation necessary to perform process or material studies.
  • Works closely with Plant Managers, Division Directors, and Product Development to ensure that manufacturing processes developed are effective, safe, and consistent with the strategic needs of the organization.
  • Uses OEE and other data collection tools to evaluate process performance and guide process improvement efforts.
  • Occasional domestic and international travel is required.

Education, Skills and Abilities:
  • 2 year vocational/technical degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • A thorough understanding of mechanical and electrical principles as they relate to manufacturing equipment and tooling.
  • Familiar with a wide range of industrial processes including sewing, mechanical assembly, machining, welding, casting, injection molding, RF welding, etc.
  • Machining and fabrication skills including use of conventional machine tools, welding, and sheet metal fabrication.
  • Ability to assemble, modify, and troubleshoot machine control systems, pneumatics, industrial heaters, instrumentation, and associated wiring.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and machine control documentation.
  • Strong analytical skills. Must be able to approach technical problems methodically and develop, document, and execute effective problem solving plans.
  • Previous training or familiarity with the principals of Lean Manufacturing a plus.

Copywriter


General Summary of Responsibilities:

THIS IS A PROJECT FUNDED POSITION. The Copywriter writes copy and contributes to brand and category positioning and strategy for all global marketing communications for Cascade Designs. This is achieved by working on dedicated product category teams to include the Marketing Operations Director, Division Marketing Directors, Division Directors, and Graphic Designers. The primary responsibility is to write marketing copy that authentically connects with Cascade Designs’ consumers, builds brand/product category awareness and drives sales.


Job Duties:
  • Maintain a personality and voice for Cascade Designs’ brands via copywriting for all marketing vehicles in alignment with brand, category and product positioning platforms. Own, and be accountable for, authentic, benefit- and sales-focused market messaging.
  • Copy (60%)-Write and proof copy for all marketing vehicles to include but not limited to: • Product Packaging and Instructions • Consumer and Dealer Website • Dealer Workbooks • Video Scripts • Consumer Brochures, Catalogs • Advertising • Trade Show Collateral • Retail POP/POS • Sales Collateral • Direct Mail Promotions • Social Media/SEO Content
  • Positioning/Creative Briefs (25%) • Assist Division Marketing Director with the development of creative briefs for category marketing projects as needed. • Assist Division Marketing Director with the development of brand, product and category positioning as needed.
  • Process, Project Management, Other (15%) • Achieve established deadlines, track and report on all tasks via our internal project management tool, At Task. • Responsible for following established copy and approval procedures ensuring accuracy for all work product. • Responsible for accuracy of trademark list (working with legal) and ensuring proper use of trademarks across all communications. • Proofread copy for other writers on Marketing Team. • Increase product knowledge through personal usage of Cascade Designs’ and competitors’ product. • Consult with Consumer Service to keep current on product and instruction feedback. • Work at least 1 consumer event annually, review consumer publications and gear review web sites.

Education, Skills and Abilities:
  • Three-plus years of experience crafting marketing copy for a variety of communication tools (previous outdoor-industry experience a plus).
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated success in managing project workload, estimating and tracking time and status reporting, via an internal or external project management program.
  • Broad experience and current activity in human-powered, backcountry and paddling sports is preferred to lend authenticity to writing.
  • Effective in cross-functional team environment.
  • BA/BS or equivalent experience.
  • 4 year degree in marketing communications, writing and/ or related field preferred.

Marketing Coordinator (2 positions)


General Summary of Responsibilities:

THESE POSITIONS ARE PROJECT FUNDED. The Marketing Coordinator helps ensure the effective and timely delivery of top class marketing for Cascade Designs. This is achieved by working with the guidance of the Division Marketing Director to develop project plans in support of key division marketing objectives. The Coordinator will then participate in a cross-functional team of internal employees and external vendors to execute the projects. Many projects are global in scope.


Job Duties:
  • Project Planning: *Help develop project plans for a wide range of initiatives including packaging, merchandising/POP, collateral, advertising, PR/events, and web. *Work with Division Marketing Director to establish goals *Prepare project briefs, budget & timeline to achieve the optimal approach
  • Project Execution: *Set up projects in project management system (At Task) *Participate in team meetings *Coordinate project tasks across a wide range of internal and external team members *Execute own tasks related to project *Monitor timelines and budgets to ensure adherence to plan *Analyze project performance results / metrics and report back to Division Marketing Director
  • Divisional Marketing Planning: *Support the Division Marketing Director in the development of division marketing strategies & plans *Assist with analysis to understand market and consumer trends *Assist Division Marketing Director with development of, and reporting on, annual divisional marketing budget

Education, Skills and Abilities:
  • Three to five years of experience related to consumer product marketing (previous outdoor, bike and/or action sports-industry experience a plus).
  • Previous experience executing a wide-range of marketing projects, as identified above
  • Effective in cross-functional team environment
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Strong analytical skills, including budgeting and analysis of retail POS data
  • Global marketing experience desired, but not required
  • BA/BS or equivalent experience
