Tammy's VARILITE Experience
On July 18, 1993, I was injured in a car accident at the age of 17 years old. I sustained a permanent spinal cord injury at the thoracic 5th and 6th
vertebrae when I was thrown from the vehicle.In 1996, I developed a small pressure sore from sitting on a hard cushion, and I was at-risk for future skin
breakdowns so my therapist recommended a leading air cushion. During the same year, I also started having problems with my left hip dislocating, which
caused severe pain. Since I am not a candidate for surgery to fix my hip, a solution to help with pain was to get a new wheelchair for better postural support
and also repositioning my seating depth to decrease the amount of pressure I was putting on my pelvis. I continued to use the same air cushion.
Unfortunately, I didn’t order a new cushion that gave me adequate postural support with the new wheelchair, so when I propelled I often slipped into poor
postural positions.
In the last ten years my hip has progressively gotten worse, which often affected my daily quality of life. In January 2006, I had x-rays taken that showed
my hip was chronically dislocated, and since surgery was still not the best option; I was referred to a physical therapist for pressure mapping and to look
into getting a new cushion for better postural support. I was evaluated for a new type of molded support cushion, but my doctor said he didn’t think it was
the most appropriate cushion for me. I was frustrated at the thought of having to try out more cushions, and prolonging my pain, and then VARILITE came
into my life.

News from a Happy Customer
Everything has been fantastic since I got the new Evolution™ cushion! My breakdown quickly and steadily cleared up and I have had no problem since. The recovery was very fast, as I expected. I was completely healed in less than 8 weeks.
This weekend I will be taking several other disabled hunters to Colville for turkeys, then I will be taking ten more for deer in October! This is so much fun. And you can rest assured that I will tell everyone how impressed I am with this cushion!
I could not be so active if I were still battling breakdown. I feel great. Your cushion has literally changed my life and enabled me to do all this and more!
